Driving Through A Winter Storm Caught On Video (part I)

Hey everyone, it's been a while!   For the past month or so, I've been keeping it pretty low-key, mainly in anticipation for our next big adventure: a month in the America's mountainous west.  Nathalie and I are one week into a month long road-trip that has taken us through the Midwest and onward to the backside of the continental divide.

To get here though, we had to drive some 1,300 miles/2,100 Km through one of the worst winter storms in recent American memory.  Winter storm Goliath more or less pounded us from south-western Kentucky until Sioux Falls, SD.

Goliath at it's strongest

During the drive over, I left my GoPro on time-lapse mode, where it took a picture every 10 seconds.  I then took all of the pictures (in this case, over 2,000), and compressed six hours of driving into a film a little over two minutes   Here is my first one of three videos: Nashville, TN to St. Louis, MO.   You can see the light rain turn into a nasty storm as the photos progress.  As we left St. Louis, the police began shutting down roads as they were flooding and becoming impassable, some of which are only now reopening.

I hope you enjoy!
