Pattaya, a Prelude

Thanks to the extensive dental work I need to have done, our travel schedule has been messed up.  Instead of being able to leave Bangkok and start a long journey outwards, we've been tethered to the city as I have two more appointments in the middle of next week that cannot postpone.  

We decided that instead of hanging out in Bangkok for the weekend, we'd head out and explore other parts of the country.  After spending a couple of hours researching on where to go, we settled on spending 48 hours in Pattaya; a city about 150 km/90 miles south of Bangkok.  It has a notorious reputation as a giant resort town with a thriving sex tourism industry.   

I've decided to break my observations up into two different posts; one will cover the resort aspect of Pattaya and the other will look at the more nebulous side of this coastal town on the gulf of Thailand.
